Objectives

Collaborations

OASIS aims at the generation of new, productive and successful interactions between the members of the Network. These interactions are expected to exert a positive impact in the development of the particular research goals and in the optimization of the available infrastructures

The results derived from the collaborations are published in scientific journals, mainly at international publishers with world-wide diffusion (see the Publications page). All articles will follow the Open Access policy, when possible, either using repositories at the participant institutions, or employing the funds of the institutions or grants toward that end.

Sustainability

OASIS aims at the development of organometallic chemistry-involved processes in a sustainable manner, i. e., transformations in which the atomic economy is high, and energy cost must be as low as possible, with reactions occurring at or close to room temperature. These two main features guarantee clean processes which may have a tremendous impact on Society, providing a healthier and less polluted environment and a reduced exposure to toxic compounds. Despite the large number of chemical applications that make life easier, Society associates Chemistry to pollution, dirtiness, danger and cancer. Approaching to the Principles of Sustainable Chemistry is mandatory nowadays for research.

Communication to Society

It is also crucial to disseminate the work done under the above circumstances, going further of the mere scientific publications. Actions toward that end are the following:

– Participation at the European Researcher’s Night.
– Participation at the Science Week celebrated every year in November.
– Use of Social media: the X account for OASIS Network disseminates the advances of their members @NETWOASIS.
Participation in dissemination programs intended for high-school students to forge a novel, positive view of chemistry in the future citizens.

Scientific infrastructure

The existence of scientific infrastructure in all the institutions related to OASIS provides a valuable link between all members of the Network. OASIS is generating a database of such equipment and techniques in a way that collaborations will be also enhanced upon the access to all of them by their members. This exchange would allow to multiply the equipment assets of the different members.

Database for sustainable catalytic reactions

To gain advantage of all the already developed know-how in sustainable transformations developed by the members of OASIS, a public database is being built  to be located at the Network website. With this action, a direct availability of procedures and scope is pursued in such a way that any researcher, in or out of the Network, can access to the information and, more importantly, contact the members to use the knowledge. In this manner, the sustainable transformations can be propelled upon connecting developers and users, which might also come from the industrial sector.
